Remanufactured Component Testing:
Michigan Custom Machines Role in "The Ultimate Form of Recycling"
(Novi, MI) For immediate release:
OEMs throughout the global transportation industry remanufacture
engines and components, providing multiple lifecycles and recapturing
the value-added to the product when it was first manufactured. Simply
stated, remanufacturing is the process of disassembly of products during
which time parts are cleaned, repaired or replaced then reassembled and
tested for sound working condition.
The Caterpillar Remanufacturing Services plant located in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico uses MCM nozzle testing machines to verify the steady flow through the injector orifices before assembly for all of its EUI, MUI and HEUI injector products. The machines also measure the valve opening pressure, guide leakage and seat leakage. This saves valuable time and reduces overall costs by catching failures before the nozzle is married to the rest of the injector assembly. If an injector fails a functional test in its assembled state because of a problem with the nozzle, then it is too late to recover the value added labor. Additional labor has to be spent to rebuild the injector a second time.
For the final step of the testing process, MCM also makes
the injector functional final test machines that test nearly all diesel
fuel injectors that Caterpillar remanufactures.
Remanufacturing is considered the ultimate form of recycling, and MCM is proud to play a role in this important process.
